This invitation was for the 12th annual Deaf Awareness Day at Silver Bay Elementary, marked by a performance of Treasure Island that was spoken and signed for the audience.

Magazine Work

Here is some of my work done at Your Savings Source Magazine, a label publishing eight different magazines across New Jersey.

1. Online Flier
I designed this handout as a selling tool for sales representatives explaining online ads to clients.

2. Foxfire
Here are two variations of the same half-page ad printed during two different seasons. The owners liked the initial red, but wanted a variation for the following issue, requesting a green similar to that in the picture.

3. Windmill
A popular hot dog franchise on the Jersey Shore, I designed this half-page ad using their primary colors and "fun and family friendly" style in mind.

4. Shore Cafe
This half-page ad was done with a shore theme in mind and had to showcase breakfast, lunch and a pot pie.

5. Puppy Palace
This half-page ad requested a puppy banner and another pup with a crown. She was very pleased with the result, especially liking the doggy bone coupons.
6. Grotticella
An up-scale restaurant that wanted a half-page, Grotticella's advertising coordinator wanted something elegant. A lot of information went into the ad, but the mussels had to remain paramount.

7. Get Lazed and Dr. Park Ave.
This two-page spread was a joint collaboration between two businesses in the same wellness center and under the same general owner. They had to remain separate enough to tell there were two businesses, but also mesh.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic T-Shirts

I've recently been commissioned to design 5 t-shirts inspired by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The employer wanted them to reflect a Zlatanism/Satanism parallel and incorporate ZZZ instead of 666 and an occult feel. Here's the progress so far:

zzz1: Zlatan Skull
Going for an occult rock star feel, with subtle soccer influences.

zzz2: Zlatanist Star
A much starker comparison between Zlatanism and Satanism. At first glance this appears demonic but on closer inspection it is revealed the horns are soccer balls, the 666 really ZZZ, and the star itself words about Zlatan.

zzz3: Player Goat Head
Many occult and Satanic references use the image of the goat head. Here, images of Zlatan have been positioned to construct a goat's head in Rorschach-like fashion.

Leopard

This was done with a feline sleekness in mind, again with a limited color palette and thus friendly for print. I tried to be a little edgier in the illustration to give more of an adult appeal. On a men's black t or a woman's sleeveless blouse or skirt, Leopard would shine. The tan geometric spots are meant to be gold foil.

Guerrilla Gorillas

I'd been kicking around this play on words for awhile and finally made it. I'm really proud of the Kirby-esque guns and hands, and I think the whole feel of the picture is what I was looking for: gritty, graphic, and gorilla. It's currently being processed for potential printing at Threadless.

Penguin Slide

Penguin Slide was a lot of fun to make. After having worked on such a detailed drawing as Blue Poison Dart Frog, it was refreshing to play in a cartoon. This was made for kid-friendly apparel for several aquariums and is currently being considered by Innovations in Print.

Version 2 of the Blue Poison Dart Frog, the picture was changed to appeal to a broader audience, a.k.a. the flowers were removed. The other leg was also added in to give some visual balance, as well as the orange frog. All in all I like the vines even better than the flowers. Currently being considered for possible aquarium and zoo apparel by Innovations in Print.

A blue poison dart frog from the jungles of South America. Besides having to showcase a frog, it had to jump out at potential t-shirt buyers. The explosions of pink against green against blue against yellow-orange really give off a sort of light that I wanted.

Animals

Here's some cartoon animals: alligator, spider, rhino, parrot and tiny bird. While done more as an exercise, I liked them enough to show here. The spider looks particularly fuzzy, and the parrot's colors really pop.

One of my illustrative pride and joys, Rainbow Jigsaw Animal Brigade was an experiment on eliminating negative space. It started with that dragon head and just exploded into a menagerie of colors and creatures. Done with color pencil, but this version has been fiddled with in Photoshop.

Mrs. Claus

With the Christmas spirit still fresh, I decided to make a portrait of one of the unsung heroes of the season. I think Mrs. Claus turned out quite well and would fit nicely on a cookie tin or perhaps printed on a stocking.

Dragna Ghostwolf

A long-standing character in my collaborative writing efforts, Dragna the Claw is an outlander of tremendous proportions and a survivor of a jackal attack when just a babe. This originally started out as a pencil sketch, scanned and then refurbished in Photoshop to give an even more drawn and parchment feel. I particularly like the detail of the eye and eyebrow, as well as the overall expression.

Hunter in the Mist

This painting went through many WIPs before becoming what is displayed here. It was a fun process and a huge learning experience, but the effort paid off. The mood of the piece is just right, and I beam with pride over all the details. Done entirely in Photoshop with a touchpad!
